SIT-Bio-Zyme Complete Cleaning Solutions by Officemax

Complete cleaning and hygiene solutions with Bio-Zyme for SIT's campuses

Southern Institute of Technology (SIT), trading as Te Pukenga, is a government-accredited tertiary provider of NZQA programs at the certificate, diploma, bachelor's degree, and post-graduate levels with campuses in Invercargill, Queenstown, and Gore.

SIT's Facilities Manager Craig McKenzie contacted their OfficeMax Account Manager to help them change their sanitary bins as they were not satisfied with their existing product and service. The conversation further led to understanding SIT's more extensive cleaning requirements and the solutions OfficeMax could provide.

The Challenge

  • SIT's existing sanitary bins and service were not up to a suitable standard, and they wanted a solution that would take care of both.
  • Simplify its cleaning product range by reducing the number of chemicals used for cleaning different surfaces and equipment.
  • Procure an environmentally conscious and cost-effective product as they routinely clean and maintain large campuses nationwide.

"Finding a solution for the existing sanitary bins was a major challenge. The service was poor, it was unhygienic, and we received regular complaints from staff and students"

Facilities Manager, SIT

The Solution

OfficeMax Cleaning and Hygiene Specialist, Tracy Aitken, met with SIT's management to understand and estimate their requirements.

Tracy carried out a site survey and, following a review of their requirements, suggested Bio-Zyme sanitary bins as their long solution and Bio-Zyme enzyme-based concentrate for their cleaning needs.

Sanitary bins:

  • The bins are fit-for-purpose and can now be serviced and cleaned by SIT's in-house cleaning staff.
  • The modesty lids on the bins are now changed on every service, and the cartridge is easily replaced as required. Together they keep the product hygienic with no wait time for servicing by external parties.
  • The in-house routine servicing capability reduced the additional annual service charges for the polytechnic, resulting in significant savings and eliminating complaints.
  • Bio-Zyme educated the cleaning staff on product features, provided onsite training, and addressed health and safety issues before installing the bins.

"Tracy conducted thorough research on the campus and came up with the Bio-Zyme sanitary bins solution. She had the product knowledge, and her research demonstrated how this would significantly reduce service and maintenance tasks and cut down on the cost."

Campus Cleaning:

  • Bio-Zyme cleaner and sanitiser come as a concentrate that is diluted with water to increase its volume, making it a cost-effective solution for the organisation.
  • The product cleans and deodorises bathrooms that emit unpleasant urinal smell even after cleaning.
  • Most importantly, Bio-Zyme product is a multipurpose cleaner. It can be used to clean both SIT's premises and its extensive fleet of vehicles.
  • Bio-Zyme also provided onsite training for SIT's cleaning staff, ran the implementation of their products, and regularly checked in to ensure they were not facing any issues.
  • The Bio-Zyme cleaner and sanitiser is a non-toxic natural enzyme that is biodegradable and softer on the environment.

"Tracy was very helpful; she has the knowledge and understanding of our requirements at once. Her solution was logical and simple to implement. She ensured the cleaning staff was educated on the product, its usage and how it reduces their efforts in keeping the campus clean."
