This Workbook is based on a film study, and features brief notes, clear explanations, worked examples, relevant exercises to help students develop their ability to interpret visual texts, and an index giving easy access to important terms and definitions. The case study is based on NZ film In My Father's Den, directed by Brad McGann, based on novel by Maurice Gee. It provides students with examples that will help them develop insight and gives the opportunity to practise using a range of strategies when responding critically to the particular visual text(s) that they are studying.
