The text of each book is strictly controlled to allow students to progress their phonics skills. 'Tricky words' are only included in the text after they have been introduced. Phonemic awareness fiction readers are designed for teaching the understanding of sounds and words. Phase 5 (Vowel Sounds) set has been written specifically for the progression of Letters & Sounds. Phase 5 (Vowel Sounds) introduces a further 20 letter patterns, mainly focusing on alternative vowel sounds.
