Written to prepare for standard 91240 (Demonstrate geographic understanding of a large natural environment). Includes two alternative studies, the North Island’s central volcanic zone and the South Island High Country, which includes parts of Otago, Canterbury and Marlborough. Each study includes information on what the natural environment is like now, how it has developed and changed over time and how it has been affected by nearly 1000 years of human occupation. Supported by maps, diagrams and photographs. A range of exercises and activities are included to encourage students to explore geographic concepts, and develop geographic knowledge and skills.
