Rayonier put down new roots with help from OfficeMax

Rayonier is a forestry management business with offices throughout New Zealand, including the Bay of Plenty branch. After six years in a first floor, multi-tenanted building, it was time to move into their own architecturally designed building, complete with private parking.

The team at Insight Architects suggested OfficeMax would be able to help with the fit out. They reached out to local OfficeMax Furniture Specialist Juliet Scott, who in turn contacted Rayonier’s Business Administrator and project lead Denyse Jellie.

"OfficeMax was flexible, could make pieces of furniture to suit our needs or change things as required. They also had a nice range that suited the look and feel of the new office."
An organic process

Already a customer of OfficeMax for general stationery, Denyse had looked into a few businesses and their offers; however she liked the OfficeMax range of furniture and the offer of a complete service.

Armed with drawings from the architect, Juliet and Denyse united to create a new office space that would inspire. The designers had built in wooden accents, keeping with the theme of forestry and the furniture was selected carefully to complement that. It was an organic process - if something wasn’t working in the space, Juliet and Denyse worked together until they found a solution that did.

The process was “pain free”. Juliet and Denyse stayed in regular contact and held meetings throughout. “Juliet was good; she attended to everything we needed and worked well with the installation team.”
Planting seeds for a successful future

The ten full-time employees moved into their new office space in March 2017. The new office is modern, bright and more funky than their previous space. From the bar leaners and stools, to some desks that are height-adjustable to accommodate a range of requirements, everyone has been impressed. Even after the employees moved in Denyse requested to have some extra items made. “Sometimes you don’t know until you’re in the space and you can see it all, that you need additional pieces of furniture to complete the look. The flexibility of Juliet and OfficeMax was a real plus.”

Denyse and the team at Rayonier went slightly over their original budget, but with the planned contingency they were able to ensure they achieved the total look and got everything that was needed. The job was largely completed to the timeframes set, with minimal delays on some items that had to be custom-made. “Ninety-five percent of the job was completed to the timeframe, however we allowed some extra time, so this wasn’t a problem.”

“The OfficeMax team were easy to work with. Flexibility was key, as was competitive pricing. This was definitely a worthwhile investment – we have great furniture that suits our purpose”
