2025 Sustainability Strategy

Sustainability is an integral part of doing business at OfficeMax and our sustainability strategy helps us deliver on our vision to 'Empower sustainable and successful workplaces'. This strategy establishes a framework for our core focus areas, goals and targets to help us achieve our strategic pillars.

Sustainability Report

Our annual Sustainability Report seeks to communicate the economic, social and environmental impacts of our operations and progress made against our strategy.

Foster a safe, healthy, and inclusive society

In May 2024, we formally launched our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) programme, which was created by our team members. As part of our Health, Safety and Wellbeing programme, we refreshed our risk management processes, implemented a new reporting platform, and embedded safety interactions into daily practice.

OfficeMax believes that we all have a responsibility to do our part to better ourselves, our communities, and the natural environment. Our community investment approach focuses on fostering an equal and inclusive community by creating social impact across our value chain.

OfficeMax has a strong focus on supporting our local communities, particularly Kiwi kids doing it tough. We believe that supporting and educating children is critical to reducing poverty, developing positive self-esteem, and achieving long-term success. Our initiatives include Max e-Grants, School Rewards, sponsorship of Barnardos 0800 What's Up as well as a number of education sponsorships and business partnerships.

OfficeMax is committed to promoting circular solutions by donating expired, damaged, returned, and unsaleable stock to several of our charitable partners, and other organisations including All Heart NZ.

Donating these goods allows us to increase our waste diversion and create social value for their ultimate recipients.

Provide solutions for a rapidly changing world

OfficeMax created the EcoMax tag to promote products that have a lower environmental impact than their alternative and/or provide wider benefits for people and sustainable development. By creating this tag, we are making sustainable procurement easier. Shop our EcoMax range here

OfficeMax provides Toitū certified carbon compatible freight reports to our customers. These reports enable customers to understand the GHG emissions associated with the freighting of the products they purchase from us, and this information can be used in their own GHG emissions inventory. At OfficeMax we feel strongly about supporting local businesses and the communities they operate in. We know that procuring from local suppliers has a positive social impact and supports our local economic development and prosperity.
